But why do we remove the eggs and bring them inside in the first place? It’s so we can perform a process called incubation! Reptile eggs do not have the ability to thermoregulate like our scaly friends so we as keepers have to manually manipulate the temperature at which the eggs reside, so that they can continue to grow happy and healthy. To do so we place them on a layer of moist vermiculite and perlite in a sealed container, and place them into one of see page our ReptBator® incubators. We then set the correct temperature for the species on the display, and wait! It can often take up visit the up coming site to 2-3 months for many turtle species to hatch. Although we have had many species hatch out that guy in the greenhouse when the occasional egg is missed, this process ensures the perfect parameters for the eggs at all times giving them the best chance at hatching.
