Chaka Khan broke through as a singer in the early 1970s with the band Rufus and she later proved that she could do very well as a solo artist. In the 1980s and '90s she scored hits with soul songs like Ain't Nobody and I Feel For You. The latter was written Suggested Studying by Prince, one of the many admirers of her unique voice. But Khan has a voice that can do more than only sing soul numbers: she also shared the stage with Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie.
