Neil Wigan OBE was appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the State of Israel in June 2019. Previously, Neil was the Director for Africa at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) from November 2015 to September 2018. He has also served as British Ambassador to Somalia (June 2013 to July 2015) and British Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo from March 2010 to March 2013. Neil has also worked in the Cabinet Office, working for the Prime Minister’s Foreign Policy Adviser and with Middle Eastern and EU economic issues within the FCO.

In the immediate aftermath of October 7th, Shai Davidai – an Assistant Professor at Columbia University – became an unlikely public defender of Israel. And truthfully, even he was surprised by this turn of events: As a committed left-wing Israeli, he had spent years criticizing the government, and often took to the streets to demonstrate against its policies. But the atmosphere he witnessed on college campuses (and specifically on his own campus at Columbia), compelled him to speak up and speak out.
