Milton Shain is Emeritus Professor in the Department of Historical Studies and a former director of the Isaac and Jessie Kaplan Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of Cape Town. He has written and edited several books on South African Jewish history, South African politics, and the history of antisemitism. His latest book, A Perfect Storm. Antisemitism in South Africa, 1930-1948, published in 2015 by Jonathan Ball Publishers, won the Recht Malan Prize (Media 24) for English and Afrikaans Non-Fiction for 2016.
