This isn't to say that the country doesn't deserve to exist, in fact it deserves it more than most because Finnish people had to fight for it... constantly! And because they did, we are now lucky enough to have enquiry access to the northern most major city in the entire world, a sea fortress that made Finland what it is today, and, of course, a whole lot of saunas! In Recommended Internet site this episode, Geoff and Alexa hit Helsinki to explore how Finland became a country at all and what it feels like today. They'll start at the sea fortress of Suomenlinna that was first built by Sweden, then expanded on by Russia, and finally used by an early Finland to protect its major city.
