You can check out that video here: I waited for a year to give #VT100 another shot. I was in much better shape in 2024 when I toed the VT100 start line. Late April this year, shortly after a trip from Japan (featured at the beginning of the video), I caught a nasty cold that turned into PNEUMONIA, which put me out of commission click the following web page for the entire please click the following website month of May. Just like that, I LOST my running fitness and faced the prospect of a second DNF at VT100. I started building up my mileage in early June, doing so with a few ultra races in the area. Although I was encouraged by my recovery and training, overall, one month was just too short to prepare for the VT100. The VT100 course is known for its 17,000 feet of climbing and a tough finish time cutoff of 30 hr. I decided not to have a pacer this year as I didn't want to disappoint anyone else. Fortunately, my friend, Peter Teal, insisted on pacing me and assured me that all I had to do was to "GIVE IT 100%" at VT100. He was an incredible pacer and motivator. And a good friend. Somehow, we did it. We crossed the VT100 finish line in 29 hr. and 45 minutes-ish, just under the course cutoff time of 30 hr. I was elated, grateful, but mostly RELIEVED. The monkey is off my back, as they say. I guess the LESSON from my VT100 journey is never give up, but it's just as important to find a friend/pacer who doesn't give up on you.
