The Rolling Acres Mall opened in 1976 with Sears, and JCPenney as anchors. A year later the mall was expanded to include a new Montgomery Ward and a O’Neils. In 1978 mall gained a new food court. Montgomery ward closed in 1986 and was converted into Higbee’s. In 1992 O’Neils would be converted into Kuafman’s and in 1993 Higbee’s would be converted into Dillards. In 1995 Target was added to the mall, in the same year the theater closed. In 1997 and 1999 Dillards and JCPenney downgraded into outlet centers. In 2001 the movie theater reopened. In 2006 both Target and Dillards in 2006. Kuafmans was converted into Macys in 2006 however in 2008 Macys closed for good, soon after the theater closed. In 2008 the mall closed for good In 2011 Sears closed followed by JCPenney outlet in 2013. In 2016-2017 the mall was demolished. In 2019 it was announced Amazon would be buying the entire property with the exception of the Sears building due to that building being used here. as a recycling facility. In 2019 the remaining anchor stores was demolished. The Amazon facility would be constructed and completed in 2020. As of 2024 very few stuff remained from the mall. Let’s go take a look.
