This week’s Fathom Highlight is an interview with Zionist Union MK Omer Bar-Lev about his plan to separate from and make peace with the Palestinians. Bar-Lev was a commander in one of the IDF’s elite units – Sayeret Matkal – before becoming a high tech entrepreneur and an MK in 2013. He spoke with Fathom editor Alan Johnson.
Our Voice of the Week is a panel discussion on the collapse of Arab states and the rise of ISIL at the UK/Israel Shared Strategic Challenges Conference. Participants were: Dan Chugg (FCO) Oded Eran (INSS) Jane Kinninmont (Chatham House) and Alan Mendoza (Henry Jackson Society). Chair: Moav Vardi (Channel 10).
Our Image of the Week is of a man resting during the ritual prayer of Tisha B’Av at the Wall Western in the Old City of Jerusalem, early on 26 July 2015. Tisha B’Av is the darkest day in the Jewish calendar, marking the destruction of the two temples, first by the Babylonians in 587 BC and later by the Romans in 70 AD. Photo by Yonatan Sindel/Flash90.
