This week’s highlight looks at the status of minorities in Israel. First is our in-depth interview with Rabbi Menahem Shemtov and Rebbetzin Shoshana Shemtov on their work to promote responsibility and participation of the ultra-Orthodox in Israeli society. Also Dr. Dalia Fadila, faculty member of the International School for Leadership and Diplomacy at the IDC Inter-Disciplinary Center in Herzliya, speaks to Fathom on her revolutionary Q Schools which aim to empower and integrate Arab youths in Israel.
Our voice of the week is General (ret) David Petraeus in discussion at RUSI on the security challenges in the Middle East and beyond facing the next US administration, 5 October 2016.
Our picture of the week is an ultra-Orthodox Jew performing the Kaparot ceremony, a Jewish ritual believed to transfer the sins of the past year to the chicken, which is performed before Yom Kippur.
